I will be riding in memory of two people,
On April 12th 2005, my dad Denis (Dinny) passed away from kidney cancer, in the last five years I have wanted to do an event in his memory. And to raise funds not only to help research into finding a cure, but to help to increase the quality of life and the care of those currently living with cancer.
On February 13th 2010, Aaron Pinsky passed away, having been diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago, Pinsky was a graduate of Williams College, an avid musician and die-hard Boston Red Sox (Bostons Baseball team for all you foreigners!). He was a week away from turning 26.
Along with a large group of Aaron's friends, we will be doing the Pan-Mass Challenge. The Pan-Mass challenge, a two day, 192 mile bike ride across the beautiful New England countryside. We ride 111 mile from Sturbridge to Bourne on Saturday, then on Sunday we ride another 81 out along the lenght of Cape Cod to finish in Provincetown.
The Pan Mass Challenge is one of the single largest fund raising events in the US each year, now in its 31st year, in August over 5,000 people will take part in either the one day or two day event. Not a single penny of money raised by riders goes towards admin or organisational expenses, 100% of all your donations go directly to the Jimmy Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, a centre for cancer research and treatment here in Boston. If you would like to read more about it go to www.pmc.org
Training peaked last weekend with 154 miles (247km) of cycling, with a 87mile spin on saturday and a 67 mile spin Sunday with team Pinsky members Adam and Alex.
