Dear Family and Friends,
I proud and humbled to say that I will be joining thousands of others in August to ride the Pan Mass Challenge, the bike ride that raises money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The PMC donates 100% of all money raised directly to Dana-Farber.
We’ve all been touched either directly or indirectly by some form of cancer - that in itself is a daunting statement. I am committed to doing my small part in raising money and awareness because of that but I was specifically moved to embark on this challenge because of my brother in law, an amazing fellow named Tom Kent. For the many that know Tom, it is widely agreed that he needs no introduction. For those who haven’t met him - Tom represents everything good that one would hope to find in a father, son, sibling, in-law and friend. Tom has been battling lymphoma over the last two years, quite possibly a result of agent orange during his days as a paratrooper in Viet Nam. Without outlining all of Tom’s many attributes, suffice to say that Tom is more than a role model and friend to many, but the definition of heart, soul and true grit. It is Tom’s story that has inspired me to get on my bike and ride 163 miles from Wellesley to Provincetown.
Please consider donating to my ride and in honor of Tom Kent. Also, it would be greatly appreciated if you might respectfully pass along this request to those who know and love Tom but may not be connected with via social media or email.
The link to donate on my PMC page is here: http://pmc.org/DS0449 or feel free to mail a check made out to PMC, to 7 Whiting Lane, Hingham, MA 02043.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dave Silk
