This is my 10th and final PMC and I am returing to Sturbridge to do it right. Even at age 64, I am certain that I can complete the 2-day/185-mile ride before they send out search dogs. :>) Over the years, I have ridden 30,000 miles and over 1,000,000 feet of climbing in training for this all-important event. Of course, from all of this riding, I have had my share of bumps and bruises, but I have pushed through these, knowing that others have endured more. It has all been worth it to help raise money and awareness for cancer treatment, research and the Dana Farber. In fact it has been a pleasure to ride in and committ to this incredible annual event. Cancer has touched all of us, in some way, yet the opportunity for successful treatment is greater than ever and even more promising for the future, thanks to the Dana Farber and their incredibly dedicated team of Doctors, nurses, technicians and staff. The opportunity for full recovery and a healthy after-recovery life is never been better and your generous donations, over the years, have had a truly meanignful impact on this incredible story. As a team, you and I, together, have raised almost $250,000, over the last 9 years! THANK YOU.
I'm asking all of us to do this one more time - let's raise $30,000 and get to an aggregate total of $275,000 - 100% of which goes direectly to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jacob Gainey Fund to support the Pediatric Low-Grade Astrocytoma. This sub section of Dana Farber, as always, is dedicated to finding treatments for brain cancer in children. Again, thanks to your generosity, they have made incredible strides to treat patients, that in the past were untreatable. Some of this is due to producing and testing new drug treatments and simply having the resources available to treat a surge of illness in this community. Not one nickel of your tax deductible donation goes to PMC administration or overhead - 100% goes directly to help people and fund research for new and better cures.
Finally, if there is anyone you want me to ride in honor of, as always, please be sure to share their story. As you know, I carry a list of such honorees, every year, every pedal of the ride, to remind me of why we do this - not just money, but to honor those who have fought this terrible disease. Last year, we rode in honor of 132 people, but there is always room for others you want to remember and/or support. As we prepare for closing out a decade of riding for this great cause, Thank you, for being a part of this incredible journey. Your emails, your support, the sharing of your loved ones (who were stricken with this terrible disease) and your wonderful donations have made every pedal worth the effort and committment. Please donate one last time to Http://www2.pmc.org/profile/ds0342.
