Dear Friends,

These beautiful lyrics from Jewel's song Hands crystalize my motivation for participating in the PMC for 20 YEARS!!! I ride for those who can not...either because they are engaged right now in the fight of their lives, or worse, have been lost.

Since it was founded in 1980, the PMC has raised over $1 billion dollars for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. Proudly, this year I will exceed $400,000 in total fundraising since I began riding!! The DFC Institute is recognized by the National Cancer Institute as one of the world’s leaders in cancer research and care. From support groups to programs that help young patients re-enter school to new clinical trials that test exciting new therapies, the PMC is critical to everything done at the DFC Institute. The PMC donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause.

On August 2nd and 3rd, I will again ride to honor the memories and celebrate the lives of family members and friends who are either battling or who have succumbed to this insidious disease and this year, as you know, will carry your loved ones with me on a special jersey to celebrate my 20th year. I will again join my college friends together with over 6,000 other cyclists from 43 states and 12 countries in an attempt to meet my fundraising goal of $25,000.

By now most of you have been supporting me long enough that I know you share my enthusiasm for this event. SO LET'S DO THIS!!! Any amount you can give will help improve the lives of others. Your tax-deductible check can be made payable to PMC/Jimmy Fund and forwarded to me at the address below. Alternatively, giving online is simple. Log onto the website at http://www.pmc.org. Click on the red DONATE tab in the upper right hand corner of the page and then type my name (using Douglas Spector NOT Doug Spector) in the box (you can also search using my E-gift ID which is DS0207).
