The story of the PMC is unfortunately the story of the Poler family. Bladder cancer took my father, Henry, at age 78 in May 2016, after 14 years of excellent care through Dana Farber, as well as my grandmother Helen, who - back in 1984 -wasn't so fortunate to have that quality of care. My brother and father each faced two different forms of cancer (happily, my brother Craig is a proud survivor!) and have been treated at DFCI. My uncle is courageously battling lung cancer just now. I have watched too many friends and family members face this deadly challenge.

Since I started riding the PMC in 1999, I remain accutely aware that the heros are not those of us who ride; the heros are those who have suffered cancer, and survived. And family members who have sustained their loved ones dealing with the cancer. It is my tremendous honor to ride in celebration of the victories of survivors, and in loving memory of those who lost their lives to this disease.

I want to thank all of my incredibly generous donors who, alongside me, have been a close-knit team in this effort over these past years. So far, our little group have raised almost $1 million together. Together we make a difference! Thank you!
