I will ride my 9th Pan Mass Challenge, riding the two-day Sturbridge-to-Provincetown route, which will be the last time the PMC starts from Sturbridge. I look forward to riding again with Team Crank, who help double our funding. And I get to ride with my daughter, Ellen (https://profile.pmc.org/EM0318), and two of my best friends Ed Kenealy and John Grotzinger (a first-time PMC rider).
As always, my ride will be dedicated to the memory of my late wife, Ebit Speers. In addition, I am also dedicating this year's ride to Susan Mann, the wife of a close college friend, who is undergoing active cancer treatment. I carry with me an ever-increasing list of people affected by cancer, my Why I Ride list. Most are names that my donors have shared with me.
As before, I am directing your donations to a part of Dana-Farber that researches and trials treatment to try to cure the cancer that Ebit had. This is the best way I know to honor Ebit's memory: to continue to help raise money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by riding the Pan Mass Challenge so that current and future drug trials may someday find a cure for Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma and other cancers.
In 2024, the PMC exceeded $1 billion raised since 1980 to support the Jimmy Fund for Dana--Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Best of all, 100% of the money raised goes directly to support Dana-Farber and cancer research. What Dana-Farber does medically is amazing and their pace of discovery is breathtaking. And this year especially, with medical research funding being cut, your help is more urgent than ever.
If you can manage, I would so appreciate having your support this year, to help Dana-Farber find the best therapies and cures for the myriad cancers and the people who seek their care.
With deepest gratitude,
David McCormick
