2016 is my 6th PMC. It is one of the most rewarding things that I do every year. It is a long and challenging bike ride, sometimes through extreme weather - remember 2014? - that rain was crazy! But its nothing compared to what the patients at Dana Farber have to go through. So, I ride for them.
Thanks to very generous friends, clients and colleagues, I have raised well over $17,000 combined in my five previous PMC rides and I will top $20,000 in total raised money this year! This speaks volumes to the seriousness of the disease and the need for a cure, it also speaks to the generous efforts of you and others like you.
Each and every donation meant so much to me. I'm proud to say that in 2013, '14 and '15 combined I raised over $10,500 without asking a single person to just donate to my cause - I raised it by offering to wear the names of loved ones, either cancer survivors or people who have lost their battle with cancer. I proudly rode in memory and honor over more than seventy five people combined over the last three years.
I also raise a lot of money for PMC by hosting my annual LobsterFest! This year will be the 5th LobsterFest! The last one had about 70 total people attend, many who don't even eat lobster (plenty of burgers and dogs, corn, salad, watermelon, desert, and of course Harpoon Beer and white wine, all for $50)! And your first kid under 12 eats free! (no lobster for the kids, just the rest of the stuff). $10 for each additional child.
I would like to thank everyone that came, and also acknowledge and thank my sponsors, Harpoon Brewery in Boston, Jack in the Beanstalk grocery store in Falmouth, Cape Cod Party in Bourne, and The Lobster Trap in Bourne. Without their generous donations of food, supplies and drink, we would not have been able to raise nearly as much money as we have. I also need to thank my parents, Jim and Jane Murphy, and my wife Beth Murphy, all of whom dedicated a lot of hours to helping this event run smoothly.
LobsterFest V is Friday September 2, 2016! For details see this page please:

I also want to acknowledge and thank Eileen and Pete Lind, founders of Team Maureen, for encouraging me to ride. If anyone is looking to ride the PMC, please consider doing it as part of Team Maureen as we have a lot of fun, and raise money for a great cause.
