Why I Ride ...
My father in law, Denis Pembroke, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiform in 2016, a highly aggressive form of incurable brain cancer. In May of 2016 Denis’ dedicated team of neuro-oncologists successfully removed and treated what would be the first of three brain tumors. As of writing this less than 7% of Glioblastoma patients live for 5 years. Denis was one of that 7%. Devastatingly Denis passed on June 5, 2021 after a wonderful 5 years with his family. There is no doubt that the efforts of Denis’ wonderful team at Dana Farber and the loving dedication of his wife Joan gave him time that we are eternally grateful for. It is our ardent wish as a family that Glioblastoma will one day have a cure, that no other person suffers through this disease and that no other family experiences the unimaginable loss that this disease brings. Denis didn’t just survive glioblastoma for five years, he lived and loved. As my brother-in-law so eloquently wrote “Denis’ parting gift was a true and intimate understanding of the power of love and the infallible strength of family. He left this world surrounded by love and his strength will live on forever in those close to him.”
PMC channels 100% of every rider-raised dollar
directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This year I have pledged
to ride 192 miles with a minimum $6,000 fundraising
target. Please contribute generously and help us in
our continuing efforts to find a cure for cancer.
