Dearest Family and Friends,
18 years!
I knew when I first got involved with the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) back in 2008 that I was on to a good thing. Each year since then I’ve participated as a rider and raised funds for cancer research and therapies because it’s the one quiet and positive thing I can do. The scientific advances since then have been remarkable and survival rates give hope that we are on the path to finding a cure for all cancers.
As an 18-year cancer survivor I have a firm commitment to the mission which is profoundly dependent on funding. I’ve no doubt it has made a difference (however small and incremental) in the lives of those afflicted. And, it could never be done without your support! I am reminded that even though cancer has left my body, it will always be a part of my life. While the ride can be daunting, the fundraising feels even more so – that is the challenge of the PMC. However, my PMC journey does not compare to the patient’s journey.
This year in particular I’d like to dedicate my effort to Nicky O, a fellow breast cancer survivor, who has had a recurrence and is in active treatment at Dana Farber.
Thank YOU to everyone who is moved to donate, whatever the amount! Know that your dollars will have a meaningful impact maybe even in the life of someone you know!
Remember that 100 percent of every dollar raised supports world-class research and life-saving care in the fight against cancer. The PMC is the most efficient charitable fundraising event in the world. Please share this letter with anyone who may be moved to donate. Fundraising deadline is October 1st. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

There is a Zen saying: “Happiness is planting a tree knowing that you will not be there to enjoy its shade.”
We all rest in the shade of trees we didn’t plant. I know I live every day in the shade of a tree I did not plant. They were planted by you and people like you. On behalf of all of us who rest in such shade, thank you very much.
With Love + Hope + Gratitude,
Diana
