July 5,2022
Dear Friends and Family, I am riding in the 2022 PMC for my 17th year. I will be riding along with riders from 47 states and 11 countries to raise money for research and treatment for cancer patients at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. All of the money raised will go to Dana-Farber and the goal for this year?s event is $66 million. I am honored to be participating in this worthy event and do so with gratitude for your incredible support in donating on my behalf. Thank you so very much!
With love,
DianeJuly 17, 2019,
Dear Friends, I am participating again in the PMC for my 14th year. I do so with continued determination to help raise money for research and patient care at Dana-Farber. I am so grateful for the support you have given me for all of these years and pledge to ride strong in this year's event, together with over 6700 fellow cyclists, from Wellesley to Provincetown. I am riding for the loved ones I have lost to cancer- for my late husband, Bob, my mother and my beloved grandmother. I am riding also with the thoughts of friends who are now in treatment and in honor of those who have won their battle with cancer. This disease touches all of us and I hope that some day soon, we will live in a world free of this disease.
Thank you so very much for your continued and generous support!
Love, Diane
July 25, 2018,
Dear Friends, I am riding again this year, my 13th year participating in the PMC. In just ten days, Aug. 4-5, I will be joining more than 6,300 cyclists from ages 13 to 85 (you can see where I fit in amongst this age group!), riding 165 miles from Wellesley to Provincetown. My reason for riding is to honor the memory of the loved ones I have lost to cancer; my husband, mother and grandmother. I also ride to honor those friends who are cancer survivors and those still in treatment. I hope that with the efforts of all of us, cyclists, volunteers and donors, we will see a world free of cancer soon. Thank you so very much for your generous and continued support!
August 13, 2014 Dear Friends, I have now completed my 9th year of participating in the Pan Mass Challenge biking event. The week-end of August 2nd and 3rd was extremely wet and cold, so different from the sunny and hot weather of earlier rides. Over 5000 riders braved miserable conditions as we biked on Saturday from Wellesley to the Bourne Bridge. I was beyond wet as I slogged along, avoiding puddles where I could and getting sprayed by passing cars. We did finish and it was the most wonderful feeling to get into a hot shower on Saturday night! Sunday, while overcast, was much better as we got on the road at 5:30 am to make our way to Provincetown. Each year I return to participate in this event, because cancer has taken my loved ones and has touched so many of my friends. We must find a cure for this dreaded disease and I am convinced that fund-raising events such as the PMC help make this possible. I hope you will support me in my efforts by sponsoring my ride this year. Thank you so very much! Diane August 10, 2012 Dear Friends, I completed the 2012 Pan Mass Challenge ride this past week-end. This was my 6th year participating in this most extraordinary event. There were over 5,000 cyclists of all ages, with an average age of 45 years. Riders come from 36 states and 8 countries. Nearly 300 riders are cancer survivors or current patients. I ride each year in loving memory of family members and friends who lost their battle with cancer. I also ride in honor of some wonderful people I know who have fought the disease and won. I am asking you to support my ride again this year and help me raise funds for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. 100 percent of every dollar you donate goes to this cause and this year the goal is to raise $36 million. To date, over $26 million has been raised. Our fund-raising deadline is this October and I would be most grateful for your continued support. With warm regards, Diane August, 2011 Dear Friends: I will be riding this week-end, August 6th and 7th for the 5th year. My training has gone well, topping it off with a 5 day ride over the mountains of Vermont. We averaged 50 miles a day and I am feeling ready! I am riding in memory of loved ones, both family members and friends, who have lost their battle with cancer. I am also riding in honor of those friends who have battled courageously and won their fights. Thank you to those who have already sent in donations to the PMC in support of my ride. To date I have raised $2,900. I will write an update soon after this week-end. Warmest wishes and thank you! Diane UPDATE: October 5, 2011 Dear Friends: I now have my final fundraising results and I am happy to report that, with your support, I have reached the Heavy Hitter status again this year, having raised $6600.
