I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
I ride for myself, family, and friends. I've been going to Dana Farber for over 3 years. I get screened every 4 months and this is the first time my tests have come back perfect. Dr Wakely told me she'd be my best friend and she is. She has supported me through all my emotions-smiles and tears.
I'm also riding in memory of my mom, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, and Joe's dad.
My mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and within 7 months she passed away. Obviously the hard part was the pain and suffering, we all went through as a family, but especially for my MOM. Yet, she was the strongest of all of us, naturally she had to be, because she was the “MOM”. Once diagnosed with cancer I emailed Dana-Farber and received a response within 8 hours. I found my mom and myself driving to Boston 3 days later and then starting treatments. They cared for my mom in the best way they could until she passed away.
I've also had several close family members lose the battle with different types of cancer as well. So many of my friends and coworkers have dealt with cancer. I just want to see a cure, so people don't feel helpless.
Please consider donating to my ride and help me reach my goal and let's beat cancer.
