New Englanders need not be reminded how dreadful this spring's weather has been. It has been difficult getting motivated to be out riding miles in advance of the PMC on August 2-3. The motivation to find a cure for cancer has never changed though. This year is especially focused given the recent passing of my brother-in law, Bill. I have written his story here in 2023. Bill was diagnosed at the young age of 64 with late stage esophageal cancer. A lifelong non-smoker and physically fit active adult, Bill didn't seem like a candidate for this type of aggressive cancer. Bill fought like hell for more than 2 years including through a lengthy surgery and recovery period. That was followed by many different chemo treatments. The medical teams at Dana Farber were fighting right along with Bill every step of the way. Neither side was willing to give up. Seeing them work extensively together is all motivation I need for this year. Bill, we will all continue the fight for you. Thank you for your courage!!!
This year is my 16th time riding the PMC. My fundraising goal remains at $25,000. Any amount you can offer is greatly appreciated and helps to get me to that goal. https://profile.pmc.org/DF0161 is the web page to donate. If you prefer to donate by check, please make a check payable to the PMC or Dana Farber Cancer Institute and mail it to me at 22 Liberty Dr, Unit 8E, Boston MA 02210. It is so important to know that 100% of all donations go directly to cancer research at DFCI. Any available corporate match option is much appreciated as well. I look forward to sharing my PMC weekend highlights with all donors.
