Dear Friends & Family:
I will be riding the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) once again this August, #17. It promises to be a One in a Billion Experience, as the PMC will cross the $1 billion fundraising level this year. Since its founding in 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its fundraising arm, The Jimmy Fund.
I'm also captain for my company's team, MFS Investment Management. As we celebrate our centennial anniversary this year as a company, we've challenged ourselves to field a rider team of 100 across the three main PMC events: Winter Cycle spinning classes at Fenway Park, the main PMC event in August and the newest event, Unpaved, an offroad leaf-peeping ride in the Berkshire Mountains in September.
Whether we count me once or three times, my final challenge this year is a personal goal to participate in the three PMC events as well. I was a virtual rider for PMC Winter Cycle, I will be riding in my 17th August ride and I'm signed up to complete my second PMC Unpaved in September.
With $28 million to go – and with the PMC raising annually more than $50 to $60 million these days – that $1B mark is well within reach, more a question of when, not if, at this point. I’m hoping you will once again be able to support my efforts and help 2024 become truly a One in a Billion Experience for me, the PMC and Dana-Farber.
I thank you in advance and remember, your donations are 100% passed through to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, not to PMC overhead.
Please use the buttons to the left to donate through the PMC's site or reach out to me directly if you have any questions or would like to donate by check, 617-639-7220 / daniel.flaherty@comcast.net.
With gratitude and love,
Dan
PS: As I write every year, if it is simply not possible to donate this year, hopefully I'll catch you next year...
