Dear Friends and Family,
In August 2025, Mary and I will be riding the PMC for our 6th year in memory of our son Patrick, who lost his courageous battle to (gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma) cancer in July of 2018. Patrick battled the disease with relentless courage, using every ounce of fight that he had in him. We hope to emulate Patrick’s strength and spirit throughout this ride so that he may never be forgotten. Patrick graduated from Arlington High School in 2008 as a three sport, top student athlete and went on to play baseball at Babson College (2012), while studying business/wealth management. He will always be remembered for his love for sports, specifically baseball and his beloved Red Sox. As we honor his memory, Patrick’s zest for life, undying smile and infectious laugh are forever imbedded in our minds and hearts!
We are riding again this year with our team, the “Arlington Angels” who are collectively honoring the young lives of our son, Patrick, Matthew Griffin and Catherine Malatesta. Three young Arlington natives, all students, all athletes and all taken from us at far too young an age. We hope that you can contribute to our ride for this important and meaningful cause.
As most of you know, 2024 was a historical milestone for the Pan Mass Challenge as the PMC crossed the One BILLION Dollar fundraising threshold last year. This year the Arlington Angels Team is set to cross the One MILLION Dollar threshold. This could only be accomplished thanks to the tremendous generosity of our friends, famiy and community who have railled behind us to support this worthy cause. We will be on the road again in 2025 and we are once again counting on all of you for your continued support to helping find a cure for Cancer.
In addition to our Angels, we also ride in memory of Mary’s father, Bud Mansfield and for our friend Lt. Dan Kelly, APD, who succumbed to his heroic 5 year battle in May 2022. We also ride for our survivors, Katie, Nancy, Colleen, Phyllis, Joe, Larry, Rob, Kelli, Joan, Mia Lee (our Pedal Partner), as well as my nephew Kevin. Last year we welcomed back Stephen Mansfield (Team Captian) and two time cancer survivor. Steve will be leading the Arlington Angels to victory this year as we cross the One MILLION Dollar Goal.
A crucial part of the PMC challenge is the commitment to raise money to help in the fight against cancer. I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, since 2007, 100% of rider-raised revenue (tax deductible) went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure. Please join us in honoring the memory of our Angels by making a donation to help meet our fundraising goal. Please click on the link below to make an online donation. No donation is too small and any and all donations are greatly appreciated!
With our deepest thanks and appreciation,
Dan & Mary
