Why I Ride ...

Dear Friends,
I hope you and your family are well. This will be my 22nd year riding the Pan Mass Challenge. This year has been particularly challenging as I underwent back surgery, but nothing as compared to what our patients go through with their cancer therapy. I was so happy to get back on my bike after 3 months of recovery. I am back in the saddle again and ready for riding in honor of my patients and their families. This year’s ride is August 3rd and 4th, so I am praying for cooler weather and a strong tailwind!
Last year I rode with my youngest two sons Robbie and Tommy, and I am excited to be riding with them again. This has become a family event. This will be Robbie’s 2nd PMC and Tommy’s 7th year.
The PMC is the largest fund raiser that supports cancer research at the Dana-Farber. I ride with the team “FLAMES” in support of the PMC and its charge to beat leukemia. In fact, 100% of my rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Leukemia Division’s commitment to find a cure.
I realize that times remain a challenge, but philanthropy is still the number one way to continue supporting research and new treatment options for our patients fighting leukemia and other bone marrow disorders. I ride the PMC to try and make a difference for our patients and families. The funds from the PMC remain the single most important support for leukemia clinical research. I ride to make a difference, and you can too.
All funds will be directed to the Division of Leukemia at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
