2 years ago my Uncle Tom lost his battle with cancer. When he was first diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer 6 years ago, the statistics said he had a 47% chance of surviving 1 year. Thanks to the great care he received, and some remarkable new therapies, he lived more than 5 years - most of it in good health.
Uncle Tom was a truly incredible and unique man. No matter what life had to offer, Uncle Tom chose to face it with optimism and positivity. Even when he was diagnosed with cancer, he spent the time he had doing the things he loved with the people he loved. Throughout my life, Uncle Tom was always there to spread his wisdom, help me with a project or take an entire day to strip my car apart after I flooded it. That's just the type of man he was, if you needed something, he was more than happy to help. Those memories are the one's I will hold on to forever, and the impact that Uncle Tom made on my life will stay with me for the rest of my life!
This is my 7’th year raising money for Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Pan Mass Challenge. The memory of Uncle Tom is what inpsires me to keep riding and keep raising money for such an amazing cause. I am grateful for all the generous donations I have received these past 6 years, and I am counting on all my friends, family, and colleagues to help me once again. My goal is to raise $2000 for Dana Farber, and I can't do it without YOU. Any amount, large or small, helps make a difference in the lives of those whom we have lost in their battle against cancer, those who we support currently battling cancer, and all those who may be diagnosed with cancer in the future. I cherish every extra moment I had with Uncle Tom so please give so that others will have more years with loved ones too.
