Why I Ride ...
PMC 2024
I just registered for my 19th ride and will be riding with Team Brent again. It's going to be a great year!!
Thanks to everyone for your ongoing support!!
WHY DO I RIDE THE PMC?
Twenty years ago, I watched as my sixth grade teacher lost her husband to cancer. She had been an inspiration to me, and I remember how powerless and frustrated I felt that there was nothing I could do to help them. Watching her endure the pain of losing her husband moved me to try to help others. It was actually because of an initial donation I made to Dana Farber that I learned about the Pan Mass Challenge. On August 3 and 4 I will be participating in this event for the fourth time.
For those who have asked why I want to ride my bike nearly 200 miles on a hot summer weekend, the answer is simple: we need to help find a cure. I can't think of a better way to combine my love of cycling with the opportunity to raise money for Dana Farber. I am very excited to be a small part of such an extraordinary event.
I will be riding in memory of several relatives, friends, co-workers, and teammates who have lost their battle with cancer. I will be riding to give hope to those who are currently fighting cancer, and I will be riding in confidence that we are indeed moving closer by the mile and someday we will find a cure.
My heart goes out to all those who have been touched by cancer and whose lives have been forever changed by it. For me, the challenge of completing this ride pales in comparison with the challenge that millions of people face in fighting this disease. The toughness, strength, and courage that they have shown will be my inspiration.
I offer my sincere thanks to all who visit this page and support my effort to help find a cure.
Donations can be made online here, or checks (made payable to PMC/Jimmy Fund can be mailed to my home address:
