This week I will be riding in my 13th PMC.
I am so grateful to be able to participate in this amazing event again this year. Being a rider and a parent of a child that was treated at Dana Farber makes this event so important to me.
Once again, this year I will be riding on Team Perini. Team Perini rides to provide funding to the David B. Perini Quality of Life Clinic at the Dana Farber. The Perini Clinic provides care and advocacy for survivors of childhood cancer, conducting research on the long-term effects of cancer treatments and offering education and support for survivors of cancer.
A quick update on Miles, our youngest son:
Miles completed his last treatments at the Jimmy Fund Clinic in Jan ’21. He is now 4 ½ years out from his last cancer treatments. Miles is now a patient at The Perini Clinic for his follow-up appointments. The Perini Clinic monitors him for any long-term treatment impacts.
Miles’ hip and shoulder replacements are all working well. Miles is still struggling with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) from his cancer treatments. His knees and ankles have been impacted by AVN but there are no additional surgeries or replacements required in the near future. We continue to monitor these joints closely.
Miles finished his sophomore year at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. He is majoring in psychology with a minor in French. Dickinson has been a fantastic school for him. I am so thankful that he has had the opportunity to enjoy his college experience.
Thank you for supporting me each year on my PMC ride. With your support, I look forward to being able to reach my Heavy Hitter Fundraising Goal for the Perini Clinic at Dana Farber.
