Tomorrow, I will be riding in my 12th PMC from Sturbridge to Provincetown.
I feel so lucky to be able to participate in this amazing event each year. The bikers, volunteers and supporters that line the entire route remind me of how lucky my family has been thru this entire journey.
Once again this year I will be riding on Team Perini. Team Perini rides to provide funding to the David B. Perini Quality of Life Clinic at the Dana Farber. The Perini Clinic provides care and advocacy for survivors of childhood cancer, conducting research on the long-term effects of cancer treatments and offering education and support for survivors of cancer.
A brief update on Miles, our youngest son:
Miles was diagnosed with ALL-Leukemia in Dec ’18 when he was 15. He completed his treatment at the Jimmy Fund Clinic in Jan ’21. It has been 3 ½ years since his treatment was complete. Miles just had his first appointment at the David B. Perini Quality of Life Clinic at Dana Farber this past week and we look forward to having a new group of doctors follow his case thru his twenties.
Miles had his other shoulder replaced about a month ago. He is our bionic kid with his two new shoulders and his two new hips. We are truly hoping that that is the extent of the joint damage from his cancer treatments, and that he can move past this phase.
Miles finished his freshman year at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA this spring and he absolutely loves being a college kid. He thoroughly enjoyed being away from his nagging parents and getting an opportunity to experience true independence.
Thank you for supporting me each year on my PMC ride. With your support, I look forward to being able to reach my Heavy Hitter Fundraising Goal for the Perini Clinic at Dana Farber. My training continues to ensure I have a great ride for the 109 miles from Sturbridge to Bourne on Saturday and 77 miles from Bourne to Provincetown Inn on Sunday.
