PMC- 2025 Inspired and Committed More Than Ever To Support Beth Vossler and, Sadly, Honor The Memory of Diane Legg
As always, I'll start with my hope that you are well...and staying healthy.
About 20 years ago my sister-in law was diagnosed with lung cancer. Back then, her chances of living for more than a year or two were slim -to-none. Miraculously, she survived for 20+years and was able to raise her 3 boys, be a great wife, daughter and sister. She also was a great friend and companion to so many cancer patients. Her creation of the non-profit Lungstrong has raised many dollars for lung cancer research. She and her husband Dave started a PMC team, which has riden in this incredible event for the last 17 years, rasing over a million dollars for Dana Farber. It is with a heavy heart that I now report that we lost Diane to complications from her disease on December 29, 2024.
I'm preparing for yet another August 2025 PMC bike ride, this time without Diane. Incredibly, now I am also riding for my wife, Beth, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in May of 2024. Her cancer was caught early on. She had a lobectomy in Mid-June. We her prognosis, now, is good . Early detection is so important. Advances in medicine and therapies, driven by places like Dana Farber, give us great hope for patients like Diane and Beth. The dollars that we have, and continue to raise for Dana Farber, are critical.
I think that most of you who read this know Diane's story. She battled lung cancer since 2004. Now, my wife is engaged in the battle. It is a scary time, but ee are encouraged that Beth may benefit greatly from the research and work done by the doctors and scientists at Dana Farber.
There is still great need for lung cancer research at places like the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology at Dana Farber. I will again be riding in the PMC for Team LungStrong during the 1st weekend of August.
If you can, please consider making a donation to the PMC to support my 2025 ride with Team LungStrong. If a donation is not in the cards in 2025, please know how much we appreciate your past support and, hopefully, we will connect again in 2026 to support Team LungStrong, the PMC and Dana Farber.
Best,
Chris
