On August 3rd, I and thousands of other cyclists will participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge in Massachusetts, a charity ride that raises funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This renowned charity ride which started in 1980, recently surpassed the $1 billion mark in fundraising over its 40+ year history. EVERY single rider-raised dollar goes towards vital cancer research and treatment. The ride stretches from Sturbridge to Provincetown, covering a 192-mile route, and participants ride to honor loved ones affected by cancer or to support the fight against cancer.
As a staff member at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA, I can attest to its outstanding work. The institute has over 640,000 annual outpatient visits annually and is engaged in more than 1,100 clinical trials. The collaborative efforts of researchers and physicians allow for the development of innovative cancer therapies, making Dana-Farber a trailblazer in cancer care.
When the PMC takes place, I will have worked at Dana-Farber for over a decade. The experience has been enlightening, and I am part of a dedicated team devoted to the institute's noble mission.
Cancer has touched the lives of many, including my cousin Basil, who passed away almost 14 years ago. His memory fuels my commitment to supporting cancer research and those fighting the disease.
I'm excited to share that advancements in cancer immunology are offering hope. Groundbreaking treatments leveraging the body's immune system are extending lives. I'm seeking your support in raising funds for research at Dana-Farber. Your contribution will directly aid our efforts, and as a member of our Operations team at Dana-Farber, the stewardship of these funds are important to me.
This year, my goal is to raise $4,000 for research at Dana-Farber in memory of those we have lost. Because of the importance of this work, I will match every single donation. Your support will make a meaningful impact as we strive towards a world without cancer.
Thank you for your support! Together, we're headed toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
