It is hard to believe that this year will be my 10th ride. Ryan started us on this path 11 years ago as a solo rider and as his only pit-crew member, I couldn't wait to ride it myself. Through the years there have been days of unbearable heat, cold and warm days with rain, one year with cracked ribs and many miles of memories made. I relish this time with my family - hours together prepping for the event, training, decorating helmets, video chats for logistics, and the rides themselves with side-by-side riding chats, sharing current updates and remembering Dan. I am so very proud of Team Scerbo and all that my sons and the amazing young women they have brought into our lives, do for this important cause.
Together, we have raised $154,301.25 for Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Our commitment this year is $20K and with a little extra, we should crest the $175K mark with this year's fundraising. Every year, I mention how grateful we are to our amazing family and friends for your generous donations that allow us to continue to participate in this extraordinary event. This year is no different, I am 10 years worth of grateful!
We are kicking off our fundraising this year on Father's Day - to remember Dan. He would have been so very proud of not only Ryan, Drew and Sean, but also Meredith, Alex and Molly - and just in love with our 2-year old granddaughter Hannah. I'm sure he would be blown away by what we have accomplished in his name and enormously grateful for how much our community has taken care of us over the years.
Since it is my 10th ride, I got to pick the route, and this year, we're doing my favorite ride from Wellesley to Bourne. It is 85 miles of beautiful roads through Massachusetts, ending in Bourne, where Ryan finished his first year. We're going to send along some updates from the various Team Scerbo members again this year. Any help you can give is appreciated.
All our love and gratitude! Closer by the mile.
Team Scerbo
Cathy, Ryan, Meredith, Drew, Alex, Sean, Molly and Hannah!
