made it through the $10,000 level yesterday, the day after PMC weekend. Two nice checks in my mailbox, and a very generous donation from my youngest daughter
I'm going to keep fundraising, every dollar counts. Huge thanks to everyone who has supported me thus far. Let's not give up now.
Late July,
I'm getting a late start on my fundraising. No excuses.
But HUGE news. Note the photo of my first Granddaughter, baby Evie-- Future cycling companion and maybe even PMC rider.
I want her, and millions of others, to grow up in a world without cancer. My oldest daughter is pregnant with a baby boy. First grandson. Same thing.
Hopefully we can find a cure before then, but it takes resolve, skill, working together, and MONEY. We need your support. Not for me but for the researchers, scientists, everyone who is working together to eradicate this dread disease. Let's do this for those who have passed away. Especially loved ones.. For those who are battling right now. And for those who will be diagnosed in the future.
Your generosity goes 100% to the Dana Farber/Jimmy Fund. Let's focus on moving forward, staying positive in this rapidly changing and crazy world. I thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
I RIDE ON!
August 21, 2024
Great news on two fronts. A successful ride. My knees finally stopped hurting.
I succeeded in reaching the Heavy Hitter funding milestone. I’ve decided to try and stretch to $16,500 which will put me in the top 10% of all fundraisers. I want to raise as much as possible since the cause is too important to stop now. We have until late September to get the money in.
I am at $15,000 right now, so the goal is in sight. Waiting for a few donations that are on their way. I’m pretty confident I’ll get there, even if I have to chip in a bit more personal money to meet the goal.
HUGE thanks for all the support.
New Granddaughter photo below. Wow
August 2
I’m now two days from kick off! The ride starts bright and early on Saturday morning. I’ve raised about $7,000 so far, hoping to get to $10,000 before I line up at the starting line. It all depends on what comes across on the Internet in the next couple of days and what happens at my mailbox.
The PMC gives you time after your ride to do another fundraising push. Pretty sure I’ll get there, based on verbal commitments and past history. Every dollar is critically important. Thanks in advance for your generosity and support. Big thanks for those of you who have already donated.
ONWARD!
July 23
Fundraising continues. Almost half-way to my minimum of $6,000. Tough to train with rain, and smoke from the Canadian wildfires, which have subsided recently. PMC starts in 16 days. The excitement level is going up. Going out to ride this afternoon before the thunderstorms come in.
Just sent out an e-mail blast to potential donors. I want to raise as much $$ as I possibly can.
Thanks for the donations!
I dropped off more than 70 personalized letters at the post office yesterday. Of course I rode my bike, and dodged the rain, and now fundraising begins for real.
I set my goal at $10,000 because I again want to be a PMC heavy hitter. If my fundraising is successful, and I recieve a few larger gifts, I may raise my goal to $16,500 which is the PMC level for the top 10% of all fundraisers.
Life goes on. The new generation has arrived. New grand daughter, Evie, was born on June 4. I was singing on stage at Tanglewood and she entered the world to a brass fanfare. Then I sang a 10 minute hallelujah. I'm not making this up.
Hopefully many years down the road, when my knees don't work anymore, she will pick up the torch and continue to fundraise to put an end to cancer. Thank you all in advance for your generosity and support.
