This year on August 3rd & 4th I will be riding over 160 miles in the 2024 PMC. It is my 8th year riding and as always, I am so excited for the PMC weekend! I ride for team Just a Bump in the Road, founded in 2003 by Peter and Sharon Gallagher. The team has grown to include their children, many friends and family, and my brother Kyle and me. Every dollar we raise directly supports the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute and I would greatly appreciate your donation!
During college, I was lucky enough to work at Boston Childrens Hospital. Although I did not work directly on the pediatric oncology floor connected to Dana Farber, when it comes to collecting resources, donations and advocating for patients, families and quality of care, I was able to see first-hand the work and organization it takes. The past several years have been especially difficult as all donations to BCH and Dana Farber were negatively impacted by Covid. Every day I saw plenty of young patients fighting cancer, and many other diseases, and witnessed how much donations - whether leading to new breakthroughs in treatments, receiving child life support or even transportation to the hospital - can affect a patient and their family's day.
Since my time working at BCH I have moved to the beautiful state of Montana, and get to complete my training by riding up the mountains. Every year I will continue to travel back to Massachusetts to partake in the PMC with my friends and family. Even living nearly 3,000 miles away I have met Montana families who traveled to Boston to receive medical care. Knowing that the proceeds from the PMC and Dana Farber go directly to patients needs such as those required for families traveling for care is a huge part of why I continue to ride the PMC!
When you donate to the PMC 100% of all rider-raised revenue goes directly to Dana Farber for research, treatment, and to find a cure for cancer. I ride to honor my Puppa, Sharon Gallagher, fellow ski racer Campbell Sullivan, all the children at BCH and Dana Farber, and everyone else who has been affected by cancer.
