This August I will be riding the Pan Mass Challenge for the first time, the whole two days from Sturbridge to Provincetown. I am excited to raise money for a great cause riding alongside friends and coworkers.
I am giving “back” this August because of all the support I received 19 years ago when I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. It was a long and grueling process that I came out triumphant from because of the amazing support I received along the way. Nothing compares to the emotional and physical support given from Family, friends and doctors. But organizations like Dana Farber/Jimmy Fund make the process so much easier through constant research for easier treatment and financial support which can help the burden on families. I had the help of so many people and organizations around me which as a confused kid, helped give the comfort and access to treatment which eventually resulted in me crossing the finish line into remission. I had someone run the Boston Marathon for me and in turn, I plan to ride my heart out to do the exact same for those currently affected and unfortunately those who will be affected.
The Pan Mass Challenge is the first major way I will be giving back for multiple reasons. Besides my dislike for running as the large man I am, this challenge brings together similar likeminded people all excited to give back which creates a positive and comfortable environment. Many of my friends and coworkers have completed the trek before and with their constant encouragement, I knew this was something I had to become a part of. The second leg of this ride is from Bourne to Provincetown and as someone who grew up on Cape Cod, there’s a familiarity with the area drawing me to ride this ride.
Please consider donating to a great cause to help save lives, make this process easier for those in need, and eventually find a cure. I am riding with the Martignetti Companies and all of their inspiring riders, who have raised millions for the cause since the challenge’s inception. Every dollar and any support you all give towards my ride will motivate me to push harder. Make sure I have no gas left in the tank when I reach P-Town. Thank you.
