Well here we are again for PMC ride #2. I survived my first 186 mile ride and have come back for more. With the support or family, friends and well, complete strangers, I was able to raise just over $10,000 for Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Dr Betsy O’Donnell’s Direct Connect program. Dr. O’Donnells program helps connect firefighters who have been given a cancer diagnosis to the world class resources them and their families need.

Unfortunately, we all know someone who has been affected by cancer. As a firefighter this hits even closer to home for me. Firefighters have a 9% higher risk of a cancer diagnosis and a 14% higher risk of dying from cancer than the general population. Research spanning decades, regions, and more than 80,000 firefighter participants confirm the correlation between firefighting and occupational cancer.
