This summer, I, along with my two good friends, Ocean Feng and Cam Herr, will be participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a bike-a-thon raising money to help discover a cure for cancer. All proceeds will go to the Dana-Farber Institute of Cancer, whose been committed to providing the best treatments for children and adults with cancer, while also leading the charge in helping develop the cures of tomorrow.

Personally, cancer has had a significant effect on my family and family-like friends. My great-uncle, Richard (Dick) Bill, passed away from lung cancer in 2020. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, a sports fanatic, an avid fisherman, but more importantly, a family man. My mother, Michelle, who was Dick’s niece, wrote that “he was a man of great faith who made everyone feel like they were the most loved person in the room. His smile and laugh were infectious, and his love for others unmatched.”

So, in honor of Richard Bill, I’ll be biking from Sturbridge to the Provincetown Inn (which is a total of 187 miles) within two days.

In addition to that, I am hoping to individually reach a goal of $6,000 and raise the large sum of $18,000 as a group. This is no small feat.
