PMC weekend has been a highlight of my summers for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories consist of waking up early to cheer on riders leaving Babson. Over the years of riding, volunteering, and taking part in PMC weekend, the experience has grown in meaning and significance for me.
As I've gotten older, many important people in my life have been affected by cancer, including two grandparents. Watching them go through various treatments has given me me a deeper appreciation and understanding for the life-changing impact of the Pan-Mass Challenge.
This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a PMC fundraising intern. My favorite part of the responsibilities was speaking with riders, volunteers, and donors on the phone. Each day, I spoke with different people about how cancer has affected their lives and the lives of those close to them. Hearing each story inspired me.
Energized and inspired by the people in my life battling cancer, and the stories I’ve heard through the PMC, I have committed to ride from Wellesley to Provincetown. Over the course of two days, I will be riding 162 miles. I am excited to be riding as a member of Team Brent.
Since its founding in 1980, PMC riders like me have raised more than $1 billion for lifesaving cancer research, treatment and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The funds I raise support the innovative work of doctors, nurses, and scientists in their search for cures for cancers and related diseases. Every rider raised dollar goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Now more than ever, the fundraising work done by the PMC is crucial in continuing the fight to find a cure and pushing us closer by the mile. Thank you for supporting my ride!
