Connor Lachman PMC 2025 — Riding for my Dad

I've made a personal commitment to bike in the 2025 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) — a 2-day, 162-mile fundraising bike ride from Wellesley to Provincetown, MA. This ride is not only a personal challenge for me, it is also an amazing opportunity to raise money for cancer and to support an incredible cause in honor of my dad. My dad has always embraced athletic challenges. Whether old-man soccer, a sprint triathlon, climbing Mount Rainier, or a classic road race — sports and physical feats have been a critical part of my dad’s legacy. And while cancer may have taken away my dad’s ability to exercise, I'm now carrying the baton and hope to tap into the gene pool to pull off this ride!

In April of last year, my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4, non-small cell lung cancer. I've seen firsthand the mental and physical toll of this disease, even on the strongest, most stubborn (!!!) patients. But despite this, I've also seen the incredible impact of cutting-edge research, world-class treatment/patient care, and an incredibly supportive and loving community have in taking the fight to cancer.

That’s where the PMC and its partnership with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute come in. The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, more than $1 billion since 1980 and $75 million in 2024 alone! 100% of donations go directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to advance lifesaving cancer research, improve treatment, and provide outstanding patient care. It’s truly an honor to join thousands of riders, volunteers, healthcare workers, and the towns along the route in raising funds for such an incredible cause.

I've committed to raising $25,000, and would be so grateful for your support to help me reach my goal. Whether it’s through a donation, spreading the word, or simply cheering me on, every bit makes a difference; I'd greatly appreciate any support you are able to offer! Cancer research is evolving quickly, especially for lung cancer, and yet there is still so much to learn to help patients like our dad and to provide treatments that keep the cancer at bay.
