OK, here goes. This is my fifth year. A little more than a week away. And I am just starting fundraising now.. Whoops. Well, please donate genrously. I'd love to get my 6 year total over $50k. Remember the cancer survivors we are helping. And every penny goes to cancer research. Thank you!

So much to share about this year's Pan Mass Challenge ride.. I’ll start with an impression that stayed with me: I saw a teenage girl on the side of the road ringing a cowbell and holding a sign that read “My Mom is a 3x Cancer Survivor and she wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you” The ride is emotional. The ride is hard. This year it was during a heatwave! I’m so proud of Cynde for doing her first ride this year. On Saturday she convinced me she was never getting on a bike again. By the end of Sunday, we were making plans for next year. This year I have nearly 100 donors so far who have contributed more than $8500 to my ride. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Remember that the PMC is a 100% efficient charity, meaning every penny goes to Cancer Research, there is zero overhead with your gift. (If you have not donated, it is not too late! Simply click the button below). This year in addition to having record temperatures, the PMC saw 6400 riders and 2700 volunteers. And we are well on our way to raising our record gift goal of $66M. I'm sharing some fun pics from the ride here, thanks to Don, Jess, Kathleen, Lisa, Liz, Rob, Sean, and especially my wife Cynde, who completed her first ride in style!
If you haven't donated, you can still contribute to my ride using the buttons on the left.

This is my third year riding in the Pan Mass Challenge to raise money for a cure to cancer. This year is particularly important to me, as I lost my Dad to leukemia last Fall. I'd love to have a banner year fundraising this year. Cancer effects us all, and research institutions like Dana Farber have made incredible progress with constantly advancing treatment options. That fact is, my Dad was able to participate in some experimental and off label drugs and he was with us for a year and a half after his diagnosis, most likley due to the great care he received in Boston. In other news, my neice Oliva who was diagnosed with Luekmeia in 2018 remains cancer free. I hope you will consider supporting my ride. If you are new to the PMC, it is the largest sports based fundraiser in the world and the largest funding source for Boston’s Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute. I will be joining over 6000 other cyclists riding our bikes 162 miles from Wellesely MA to Provincetown on the tip of Cape Cod. Note that ever penny raised goes directly to research, there is no overhead. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $831 million for Dana-Farber. You can donate to my ride by clicking the link on this page. For donars that contribute $2 per mile ($324) or more, I will give you something special from my garden this Fall! You can also use this page to follow my progress as well. Thank you!

2019 was for my niece Olivia. 2021 is for my Dad, Brown Lingamfelter. Through the last half century Dad has been my mentor, employer, friend, role model, and my rock. Last year he was diagnosed with MDS, sometimes called pre-Luekemia. This Spring it lived up to its name and progressed to Acute Leukemia. As I write this my Dad just finished his second round of chemotherapy. It is hard, watching him go for seven straight days to be injected with a poison, and then struggle to recover for the next three weeks, just to repeat the process. There is a terrible feeling of helplessness with nothing you can do, except be there and be supportive. My niece went through the same thing and conquered Leukemia and is now in full remission. I expect nothing less from my father. Thanks to folks like you I raised nearly $16,000 in 2019 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I am hoping to top that this year. Please give and help us overcome this terrible disease.
For me this is personal. I want to make a real, material difference. I hope you will join me and make a contribution, however small. Note that each and every penny I raise goes to fund cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The ride will take place on August 7-8 weekend with day 1 from Wellesley to Bourne (82 miles) and day 2 from Bourne to the tip of Cape Cod in Provincetown, Massachusetts (77 miles). I will join about 6000 other riders in an endurance contest that has come to become the largest sports centered fund raiser in the United States. Over the past 40 years the pan mass challenge has contributed over $767 million to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, which uses those funds for cancer research and treatment. With your help, the 2021 gift is expected to top $52 million. To donate and help fund cancer research please clcik on the donate button on this page.
Thank you so much for your support!

This year, 2021 I am so excited for the PMC! Please support my 2021 ride. (With COVID-19 I took last year off). I am happy to report that my niece, Olivia is cancer free and living the normal life of a 6 year old! You can read about my first PMC ride inspired by Olivia, below. Cancer countinues to hit home with me, though. My mom has overcome breast, thyroid and pre-lung cancer. My Dad has been diagnosed with MDS (a kind of Leukemia). I am excited to ride with friends, loose some weight and get in shape, but most of all, I am riding for the day that Cancer is history. Please help me make that happen with a donation where 100% of your money goes directly to research to make this happen. Thank you!
Warmly,
Chris

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who donated to my 2019 ride! Nothing prepared me for this. I have several good friends who rode the PMC (my boss and 6 River Co-CEO Jerome Dubois/J Hilburn fashionista Lizzie Fregeau, the awesome Don & Jess Catino) and they tried to prepare me. I trained (and lost 29 pounds), I fund-rose (and raised nearly $16k) however, I wasn't prepared for the day of incredible emotions. Hugging strangers who lost love ones, being cheered like a rockstar for mile after mile, hour after hour by people on the side of the road. I am going to add more to this later this weeked. you can read about me preparing for 2019 below.

2019
This is why I am riding. Last Fall, my niece, Olivia was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Leukemia. She has spent 160 of the past 180 days and nights in the hospital. I’m here with her and her sister on a rare visit home for Christmas. She and her family are strong and going to make it through this. I thought.. the least that I could do is ride my bike 84 miles on August 3rd from Wellesley to the Cape to raise money for cancer research. I have committed to raising as much as I can. I’m striving for $15,000. Every penny, 100% of the money I raise will go to Dana Farber for cancer research to help improve the lives of patients like Olivia. I hope you will make a donation and support my ride. Please visit http://profile.pmc.org/CL0265 today.
-Thanks, Chris
