Dear Family and Friends,
This weekend, August 5 & 6th, I will be cycling in my thirteenth year of the Pan Mass Challenge. As a cancer survivor... I figure IF I CAN, I WILL!! It has easily been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life completing 200 miles to help fight cancer.
Eighteen years ago, Team Brentwheels was created on behalf of Brent, a two year old with Stage lV Neuroblastoma. Back then, the survival rate was 15-20%. Today, Brent is a 21 year old healthy college student. His parents will adamantly tell you that he is here because others funded earlier research before them. Today, due to a small part to Team Brentwheels collective $6M raised for Neuroblastoma research, a child with the same diagnosis has 60% odds. There is still so much left to do to save ?? %.
The Pan Mass Challenge benefits the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and 100% of the money raised goes to Cancer research. One of the most important things to note about any and all donations made is that no amount is too small to make a difference. I am lucky enough to ride for Team Brent (http://profile.pmc.org/TB0100). Thank you for supporting our team!
With your help and support we can all make a difference in the lives of so many people. As a cancer survivor myself and having my mother, two aunts, two grandmothers and now my Mom's twin brother and cousin...I have been impacted by this unfortunate disease my whole life. That is why I do everything I can to do my part in helping raise money and awareness for my fight. Therefore, I continue to ride for all those battling cancer, my Uncle Paul, Brent and the other children who have fought and are still fighting cancer, and for all those who have lost loved ones to cancer. Thank you in advance for your generosity and I promise to ride strong!
All my best,
Christina Lake
