Why I Ride ...
2024 will be the 13th time the ‘Fraid Knots have been represented at the Pan Mass Challenge, and for our two team Captains; Dave Cambria and Garret Ames it will be their 16th and 13th PMC! For me, it's my 8th!
Our Team - the 'Fraid Knots has 10 riders this year.
Inspiration for our team, The Fraid Knots comes from Charlie Ames (son of Garrett and Amy). In 2011, Charlie faced down a challenging brain tumor. His favorite song at the time, ‘Not Afraid’ by Eminem became our anthem. True to his theme song, Charlie did miraculously well. He had a very successful surgery and was a rock star through his treatment. Today he is cancer free and attends Colorado State University. While each 'Fraid Knot rider has their own personal reasons for riding, Charlie will always be the inspiration at the center of our team.
In riding, we celebrate those we know who have benefited from successful surgeries and treatments, we extend hope to those we know are facing cancer today, and we honor the memory of those we've lost to the disease. Most importantly we ride to support a cure!
Our little team from our little town has managed to raise $1,000,000 through out the years! Thank you all for helping us make it happen.
