Why I Ride ...
Excited to be back in the saddle this August for my 7th Pan-Mass Challenge.
I’ll be riding again with Team Duncan, named in memory of my mom and made up of 100+ riders in support of breast cancer research funding for Dana Farber. Last year we raised over $1 million and are looking to beat that number this year.
Earlier this summer on the five year anniversary of my mom’s passing, Team Duncan kicked off its training with a 30 mile ride followed by a few beverages at the house that she (and I) grew up in. My mom had a unique ability to bring people together for a good time, especially when it was in support of a cause she cared about. That ride was a fitting way to remember her and continue to carry on her legacy.
Here’s why the money matters:
For the four and a half years after she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, my mom lived aggressively and created some of the happiest memories of our lives. She rode 5 PMCs, ran a half marathon, walked 2 fashion runways, attended too many college family weekends to count, and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Dana-Farber through OOFOS Project Pink.
She took advantage of every single day, but always with the mindset that she had “many many years to live”. That time and that mindset would not be possible without the incredible work that Dana Farber is doing. My mom cared deeply about supporting this research not just for herself, but so that all other survivors could continue to live the way that she did and so that one day we would find a cure.
100% of every dollar donated to Team Duncan goes directly towards funding breast cancer research at Dana Farber. No amount is too small!
