PMC - TEAM EVAN NEEDS YOU WE RIDE YOU DONATE - please (donation link: https://profile.pmc.org/CF0164) Team Evan: So, this is a strange year - our lives have been turned upside down by events beyond our control and the official PMC ride was cancelled. Unfortunately, CANCER DOESN'T CARE THAT THERE IS A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Cancer is still that insidious disease that keeps taking the ones we love. This weekend Team Evan will be riding in Evan's honor and we need your support. Since the PMC ride is cancelled, we will be riding around Evan's old stomping grounds in metro-west. I know that this may be a difficult time for many of you, but I would appreciate anything that you can do to support Team Evan. This is the fifth time I will be riding as a member of Team Evan - a group of incredibly dedicated people who are cycling this summer in honor of one of my oldest friends, Evan "Shuey" Schumacher. Evan died from cancer in November of 2015. Like some of you, I have known Evan for a long, long time. Evan was one of two non-family members who attended both my wedding and bar mitzvah. Evan and I grew up together - from Needham to the night spots of Boston and later in life we helped each other figure out what it meant to be a father to young children. Our plans to go through the struggles of raising babies into young men and women together will never happen. Evan was an amazing husband, father (of 3), son, brother and friend. He died far, far too soon, and he is missed by so many. Evan fought his disease with everything he had, for 19 hard months. He was so sure that the next treatment, the next trial, would save him - all he needed to do was hang on. Evan ran out of time. But others CAN be saved. That's where all of us come in: we bike, you donate (link: https://profile.pmc.org/CF0164) and Dr. Cleary continues to do his amazing work. Dr. Cleary and his team of dedicated researchers, funded in part by the nearly $250K our “little team” has raised, have had sucesses with Biliary cancer (cancer occurring along the biliary tract including, cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) and gallbladder cancer) but they need your support.
