This year, I’m participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) for the second time, riding 162 miles over the course of two days from Wellesley to Provincetown as part of Team Wolf Pack, with fellow riders from my law firm, Wolf Greenfield. Last year, our small but mighty team raised over $120,000 for Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Cancer affects so many people’s lives in profound ways, and unfortunately, my family has been no stranger to this. As many of you know, my Dad has been bravely battling stage IV cancer for nearly two years now. He has adjusted to the new normal of regular chemotherapy and has made incredible progress. I greatly admire his unwavering optimism and determination to continue enjoying his passions of attending sports events, and concerts, and writing his Sportszine.
My partner, Brendan, and I were shocked when cancer hit home again last November, and his 3-year-old niece, Carson, was diagnosed with leukemia. Instantly, her world was turned upside down and she began aggressive chemotherapy.
Watching this vibrant little girl navigate her cancer treatment has been deeply moving and inspiring. Every day, she shines with extraordinary resilience and strength, doing hard things that no child should ever have to endure, with remarkable courage. Carson’s fearless spirit is an inspiration to everyone around her, and witnessing her journey fuels my desire to support Dana-Farber. When Dana-Farber was founded in 1947, pediatric cancers were almost invariably fatal. Today, the cure rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood leukemia, is nearly 90%.
In honor of both my Dad and Carson, I’ve set a personal goal to ride PMC and raise $10,000 to support the groundbreaking work of Dana-Farber. The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single athletic event in the world, with 100% of rider-raised funds going directly to Dana-Farber. Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has raised over $1 billion for cancer research, including $75 million in 2024 alone. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund the life-saving research that is crucial for families like mine and brings us closer to a cure for all cancers. I truly appreciate your support.
