Welcome to PMC 2025!

This August 2–3, I’ll be riding in my 14th Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) alongside my incredible Team Duncan teammates and thousands of others. Each year, we ride not just for the miles or the challenge, but to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) —and the people it treats.

Thanks to your support, we’ve raised over $180,000 together—and this year, I’m aiming to cross the $200,000 milestone. Every penny you donate goes directly to DFCI; for the 19th year, the PMC will donate 100% of rider-raised funds, making it DFCI’s largest single contributor.

In 2024, the PMC raised a record $75 million. This year hits different. I am not a political person, and this is not a political letter. However, as PMC founder Billy Starr recently said, The PMC's Work Matters More Than Ever. This was his message to the PMC community recently and it opened my eyes and added even more determination to raise as much as we can for DFCI.

“The current administration has proposed a 40% cut to the NIH budget, threatening $50 million in funding for Dana-Farber—and up to $200 million over the next four years. These are not just numbers. These cuts put real people, research, jobs, and lives at risk.

So yes, we ride to raise money. But as importantly, we ride to protect progress. We ride to defend hope. And we ride to ensure that nothing—and no one—stands in the way of our funding the cures for cancer.

For me, this ride is deeply personal. So many reasons to ride. I ride for:

• Chuck, my friend currently facing a tough road after a recent lung cancer diagnosis
• Matthew, my nephew, who we lost to leukemia in 2021. He will always be the reason I ride
• My original motivators and inspiration - Lisa Gerritzen and Duncan Finigan, our team’s namesake, both lost to metastatic breast cancer
• And for countless others we’ve loved, supported, and lost along the way
