Why I Ride ...
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. This year on August 3rd and 4th, 10,000 cyclists and volunteers will participate in the 45th Pan-Mass Challenge to benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). A few more impressive facts: 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to DFCI and the PMC has raised over $972 million since 1980 and represents over 62% of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue.
This will be my 10th year riding in the PMC and the event is amazing. Along the route, we continually see people that have beat cancer and are holding signs letting us know that the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber have been a part of their journey. Of course, the jersey's of the other riders all too often also have photos of the loved ones that have lost their battle with this terrible disease. Each and every one of us know someone that has fought cancer in one way or another.
This is a special ride because my daughter Kaylee (18) will be participating in the ~200 mile route for the third time with me. Of course, she's in her prime now and I've passed my prime many years ago. This is an absolutely great cause and I will sincerely appreciate any sponsorship we receive. We need to raise 12K together so that's a big challenge, but our goal is to raise 6K and our family will sponsor the remaining $6,000 as part of our annual giving..... We are going to find a cure for cancer, I just know it. So, I ride to help make a difference and to honor those that have fought the good fight.
Cindy & Kaylee (Our donations are pooled so sponsorship on either of our links contributes to our $12,000 goal)
