I can't believe another year has passed, and it's' time to start fundraising for my 14th PMC! I can honestly say I never expected to be riding this long, but here we are.
I'm hoping this year is more of a ride in memory and honor of so many people I have loved and lost. Last year was tough. I was still so upset from losing my mom just weeks before. I was a mess, I cried through most of the ride. I missed her, I missed the spots I used to expect her. I missed seeing the signs, I missed sharing the whole weekend experience with her. Instead of embracing the weekend, I just tried to ride through the grief. I was angry. It wasn't fair. It still doesn't seem real. However, she always had a big smile on her face when I saw her, so I am going to try to do the same this year!
We are also celebrating a couple of big team milestones this year. Our two friends who were injured last year when hit on a training ride are back on the road with us this year.
The best news is our amazing pedal partner Charlie is back with us this year. She turns 7 the month before the ride. The Thursday of PMC week she will officially complete TWO YEARS of treatment! We can't wait to celebrate this amazing milestone with her. She is forever smiling, and we can't wait for her to get back to just being a kid!
This year the PMC is on pace to hit a massive milestone as well. With this years fundraising gift, PMC will surpass ONE BILLION dollars in donations to Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund. It is incredible to know what good has come from this money, and the good it will continue to do for so many years. Every dollar donated goes directly through to the hospitals. None is used for overhead or salaries. They truly believe their mission, and it is very special to be a small part of that.
Thank you for the years of continued support and love. Without you, I wouldn't be able to ride and I'm grateful beyond words. The PMC has not only become part of my summer, its part of my DNA. I love it, and can't wait for another year with 6500 of my friends.
Any and all donations are gratefully accepted. You are helping change lives.
Thank you.
