On Monday April 16, 2018 life for our family changed forever when we brought Will to the hospital and by the following day the word tumor and cancer would become a normal part of our vocabulary. Will was diagnosed with a Wilm’s Tumor in his left kidney. A week after diagnosis Will would have his entire kidney removed at Boston Children’s Hospital and a week after that we would start chemotherapy and meet what would become our second family at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana Farber. Will has now completed both chemo and radiation treatment and has had multiple rechecks since completing treatment and on January 30th 2019 we heard the words Your son is CANCER FREE!!!

I’m not just riding this for Will though, we are a team, Team Wilm’s Bros! We started as a group of parents of 3 little boys with the same cancer, almost the same age, living in the same area of the country, and diagnosed almost at the same time...Will, Joey and Winston. Team Wilms Bros has grown in only a few short years to include so many more kids and so many more special people who are on the same mission we are, to END CANCER!!!! One special little Wilms Bro we meet along the way was 5 year old Evan who unfortunately lost his battle with Wilms just days after our 2020 PMC ride, he was one of our Pedal Partners and will be our Forever Wilms Bro.

This August our team will embark on a journey like no other but I can tell you it's an emotional and uplifting journey and I’m ready and excited to take on the challenge again. It’s a 2 day and 200 mile bike ride across Massachusetts--dedicated to raising money to support The Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dana Farber and The Jimmy Fund had been a home away from home during Will’s battle, and although it is a place no one ever wishes to go to, we fell in love with every part of it. The doctors and nurses are so incredible and like nothing we have ever encountered before, the science and medicine is out of this world, and now we want to give back.
