On Saturday, August 2nd & Sunday, August 3rd I will ride my 5th Pan-Mass Challenge - a 162-mile 2-day bike ride from Wellesley to Provincetown. This weekend is one of the most inspiring events of the year and I am honored to have the chance to be a part of such a great event and organization.
As I enter my 7th year as an oncology nurse and 3rd year at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, I continue to be humbled by our patients every day. It is an honor to work alongside my teammates in the GU department at DFCI as we come together as a team to fight cancer and search for a cure.
Riding in the PMC gives me the opportunity to continue this fight outside of my day-to-day workspace. I am lucky enough to be a part of a team that provides support and treatment to our patients at such a challenging and vulnerable time, but this alone does not fight the disease. What does a donation mean to me? Donations lead to DFCI having the opportunity to research and develop treatments to fight cancer. With these findings, we are able to provide patients with more days, months, and years. I raise and ride to give my patients the opportunity. I ride in honor of, in memory of, and alongside all my patients.
More personally, I will proudly ride in memory of my beautiful friend, Steph, whose battle with cancer courageously came to an end in January 2024. Steph demonstrated strength and resilience flawlessly, a common trend in oncology patients. As the natural cheerleader she was, there is no doubt she will be cheering each rider on in the first weekend of August.
I ask that you trust when I say any donation amount, big or small, provides our cancer patients with opportunity to see yet another sunrise and experience brighter skies ahead.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
With Love,
Bre
