Why I Ride ...
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure. We all know people that have been affected by this disease. Let's all help find a cure together.
Why I ride: CANCER SUCKS!
Like most people, I have know people that have gone through the myriad of cancer treatments. Not only does the disease suck, but the treatment in many cases is no bargain either.
In December 2018 I was diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to advancements in medical technology, I had surgery in March 2019 and am now considered cancer-free and fully able to participate in this year's PMC. I am a very lucky one.
I am riding with an amazing group/team For the 3rd time I have the privilege of riding with an amazing young man who has beaten cancer twice by age 20; and his dad; whose handling of the family nightmare called cancer was personally inspiring. This was actually a kid I coached in youth soccer and a good friend of young Brian. He was diagnosed two weeks before he was scheduled to head to Syracuse University. Plans changed but ultimately had a happy ending. 20 years ago, things may have been different. These types of fundraisers really do make a difference
