In January 1999, I was 17 years old. A week after I learned that my mother had a malignant brain tumor, she died following surgery and my entire world was turned upside down. Twelve years later, we learned my father had advanced pancreatic cancer, and after a year of grueling treatment, he succumbed to the disease. I have lost grandparents, cousins, other relatives, parents of friends, and other beloved community members to cancer, and am fortunate to have others still in my life who were able to battle back against cancer and are now survivors. For all of these loved ones and for anyone who gets the dreaded cancer diagnosis in the future, I am riding and raising money for YOU in the hope that every dollar raised will bring us closer to a cure.
This is my first Pan-Mass Challenge, inspired by the tireless efforts of my cousin, Kathie O'Neil, who rides and raises thousands of dollars year after year. We're riding the 2-day Wellesley to Provincetown for Team Fidelity & Friends, a 162 mile ride. I will train hard and ride hard - all I ask from you is help exceeding my fundraising goals of $6,000.
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. 100% of rider-raised funds will go directly to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
No amount is too small - I greatly appreciate your support on behalf of everyone I am riding in memory and honor of, especially my mom and dad. Thank you thank you thank you!
