Why I Ride ...
In April of 2018, my life changed forever. It was then that I found myself in a hospital bed at Rhode Island Hospital diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I never imagined that during my last didactic semester of Pharmacy School at the University of Rhode Island I would be receiving the very medications I was learning about in class just days earlier, but that is exactly what happened.
Getting through 6 months of chemotherapy treatment was a challenge, but lucky for me I was fully supported throughout the entire process. From the very first day, my family was able to be with me helping me cope with my diagnosis. Later on in my hospital stay I had friends from back home in Exeter, New Hampshire and the University of Rhode Island at my bedside making me laugh. And finally - my treatment team from everyone at Rhode Island Hospital to all those involved in my care at Dana-Farber Cancer Center made me feel so comfortable to trust them with my care. Bottom line, from day one, I was surrounded by love and support that helped me get all the way through treatment and come out with a clean bill of health on the other side.
That is why I will be riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge in 2023. I ride to provide support for the Dana-Farber Cancer Centers fight against cancer, to repay the love and support that was given to me during my fight, and (most importantly) to remind those fighting their own fight that they are never alone
Please help me reach my fundraising goal and consider donating here!
