I'm a proud participant in the Pan-Mass Challenge - a bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country - to bring us Closer by the Mile to a cure for cancer.

Since its founding in 1980, PMC riders like me have raised more than $1 billion for lifesaving cancer research, treatment and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the country's top cancer care hospitals. My PMC is making a difference in the lives of patients at Dana-Farber and around the world. The funds I raise support the innovative work of doctors, nurses, and scientists in their search for cures for cancers and related diseases.

I am riding in honor of my brother in law, Eric Mayers. He was diagnosed in December of 2022 with stage 4 lung cancer and died in February of 2023 leaving behind his wife and 2 teenage kids. Eric had such a beautiful view on people and life and was a huge part of our family. He would be thrilled to know I am doing this ride! I am also riding in honor of one of the most amazing 90 year olds that I have had the priviledge to meet-Joyce Goodwin. She dealt with colon cancer in the 90's and beat it and lived a great life and loved people BIG! She had to deal with the diagnosis of colon cancer again in December of 2024 and passed away in February of 2025 from complications during her recovery. She will be on my mind with every pedal as I am doing this ride with her son. She didn't get the chance to know that we were doing this ride for her, but she would be so proud of her son and she would think this was such an awesome way to raise money for cancer. I have also lost a cousin to breast cancer, a cousin to lung cancer and had other cousins, aunts and uncles who have had to deal with various cancer treatments and challenging circumstances. This is one small way I can do my part to support research and honor the bravery of the cancer warriors!
