The reason I am doing the ride this year is to honor my deceased grandmother who passed from esophageal cancer in 2018. She was an amazing person and an amazing grandmother. She died when I was only 7 years old. I wish I was able to talk to her more and I wish she was still here to see the things me and my family have acomplished in life. I know she would of been proud.
I also do this ride because of my friend who survived bone cancer. About two years ago when I was in sixth grade my friend came up to me and told me that he had cancer. I didn't know how to respond. He ended up getting through it and two years later he is fully recovered and is doing just fine. But while he was in the hospitial I was in school and I couldn't stop thinking about him, hoping that he was going to be alright. I was thinking about why should people have to go through this. Him having cancer motivated me to fundraise more than my goal.
I keep on doing this ride because I think no one should have to go through the pain and torture that my friend and grandmother had to go through. That is what keeps me going every year and helps me across the finish line. 100% of the money you donate goes to The Dana- Farber Cancer Institute, the number one cancer research center in the United States. No donation is too small.
