Back in the 1990s I started my own fundraiser for AIDS/HIV care at the Hospice on the Hill, Mission Hill, Boston, and the Outer Cape Health Care Services. I got donations from friends and family while training and pounding the pavement in running the Boston Marathon. I was inspired by the memory of my brother Paul. I 'ran and raised' for 5 Boston's, doing my last in 2000 when the pavement finally took its toll.

Fast forward to today where I'm now a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. I am now 'riding and raising' for Team ROAR, Reindeers On A Ride, in the upcoming PMC.

My boss for the last 30 years, Jim Connolly and his family have been riding the PMC for the last 17 years, in memory of his sister - Eileen. Jim recruited me in 2023, as a Reindeer in Training, and together with Team ROAR and thousands of other dedicated riders, we have the time of our lives during this wonderful annual event.

I am now a full-fledged riding Reindeer on Team ROAR. One of the things I most appreciate about Team ROAR is that the the revenue we raise goes directly to the Jimmy Fund's annual Summer Festival, Polar Express, and Winter Wonderland for the children and their families fighting cancer. I hope you find this as inspiring as I do and that you'll be willing to join me, Team ROAR, and all the riders and volunteers who try and make a difference to those, especially the kids, who are LIVING because of the unwavering support of the Jmmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and caring people like YOU!
