Friends and Family,
On Saturday, August 2, I will line up with many other riders for my 32nd PMC. I am writing to ask for your support for my 2025 PMC ride.
I am very grateful to be cycling again this year and for the continued support of my family and friends. I have signed up to ride from Wellesley to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne, about 80 miles, on PMC weekend with my wonderful Over the Hills Gang cycling teammates from Lexington. My daughter Becca and son-in-law Dan Costanza will also be cycling on Saturday, and plan to ride to Provincetown on Sunday. My wife, Lila Heideman, will be volunteering at the PMC information tent in Bourne, and will be in this year’s Living Proof group photo.
Since I first rode my bike in the PMC in 1994, the PMC has provided transformative funding for the mission of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to research and develop improved treatments and increase cancer survival rates. Our family has had firsthand experience with how the PMC directly improves patients’ lives by providing funds that allow the wonderful people at Dana-Farber to do leading edge cancer research while providing compassionate patient-centered care. While there have been many advances over the last 30 plus years, there remains an enormous level of unmet need for effective treatments in areas such as glioblastoma, multiple myeloma and pancreatic cancer, just to name a few. And the need for funding is even more critical right now.
The essential work performed by everyone at Dana-Farber, from the folks in the parking garage and the cafeteria, to the researchers, the physician assistants, the nurses, and the oncologists, is the work of repairing the world, one patient and one caregiver family at a time.
In 2025, the PMC will once again pass through 100% of your sponsorship dollars to Dana-Farber. The PMC can achieve this extraordinary result because of the generous support that all of you provide. Every dollar you give will be used to support cancer care and research that has a truly global impact. Any amount that you can give is important and very much appreciated. All of us who participate in the PMC, whether as donors, volunteers, or riders, have a shared commitment to the fight against cancer.
The best way to sponsor me (or my daughter Becca or son-in-law Dan) in the 2025 PMC is through our profile pages which can be found at www.pmc.org using our names or eGift IDs (I am BL0013, Becca is RL0085 and Dan is DC0329). My profile page is https://profile.pmc.org/BL0013, where you can donate using your credit card, Donor Advised Fund or Venmo. If you are eligible for matching funds from your employer, please be sure to note the eGift ID on your matching gift form.
Thank you very much for your support and good wishes. I appreciate you joining with our family and the larger PMC family to bring a cancer cure “Closer by the Mile!”
Sincerely,
Bob Licht
