This August 3-4 is the 45th Pan Mass Challenge to raise money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has raised over $970 million and this his year the PMC will surpass the one billion dollar mark. I began riding in 1997- this year will be my 28th year! What started as a tribute to my sister-in-law Cherie’s losing fight to breast cancer in 1996 has become a long term commitment. We have all lost a loved one to cancer. The PMC has become an integral part of my life. To watch the progress and advancements that has been made since I started in 1997 has made my commitment most rewarding.
I will be doing the traditional PMC - a two day, 192 mile bicycle ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown, MA. Riders spend the night in Bourne, MA at Mass. Maritime Academy and get up before the crack of dawn and ride onward to Provincetown.
The ride is supported by incredible volunteers at water stops along the way. Riders and volunteers come from 43 states and 12 countries with the common goal of finding a cure for cancer.
Due to the incredible generosity of many corporate sponsors, 100 percent of every rider raised dollar goes directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The website pmc.org is a great resource to illustrate the tremendous work that goes on in the fight against cancer. Please support my ride this year as we continue to make progress.
Please use the links on my fundraising page to support my PMC. Thanks to all of you who have continued to support me throughout the years.
All the best, Bob
