I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
I'm looking forward to another year riding the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for the Jimmy Fund – to support cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber, where my wife Claire works. I will be doing a two-day Wellesley to Provincetown ride, which is 162 miles. I am riding in honor of friend and neighbor, Sandro Bruni, who at age 20 was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, a Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG, mutation H3K27M), for which there is no well-established effective treatment.
In addition to training and riding the event itself, my effort includes fundraising. Since 1980, the PMC has raised, amazingly, over $1 billion. I’ve set my personal fundraising goal at $10,000. I’m hoping I can meet that goal and exceed it because of the generosity of people like you -- can I count on you to help out? Your donation is tax deductible and 100% will go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for cancer research. (Race administration and expenses are paid out of rider entrance fees and other sponsorships.)
I also ride because I am part of an amazing team riding in the memory of the late Kevin Fitz Fitzgerald. Kevin was a major Boston political leader for over twenty years who lost his battle with cancer in 2008. I am honored to be part of Team Fitz. This year our team is each riding 162 miles and together we hope to raise $162,000!
