Cancer took my grandfather from me 13 years ago. It stole a dear friend’s 7-year-old daughter in 2018. And last year, it took my fiancée’s stepfather from our family.
Sadly, most of us have stories like these. When you experience a cancer diagnosis in your circle it makes you feel completely helpless. When it takes a loved one from you, it makes you feel completely hopeless.
It was obvious to me when I was younger that I wasn’t going to find the cure for cancer. Instead I choose to contribute by fundraising toward finding a cure.
This is the sixth year I will be riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge – a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country.
Always held the first weekend in August, the PMC raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research. 100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.
On Aug. 6th and 7th this year, I will be biking 187 miles through Massachusetts along with ~6,000 other riders.
By signing up, we all commit to raising at least $6,000. This year I’m hoping to surpass that by raising $10,000.
Thank you for any help you can provide. If you’d like me to ride in tribute to anyone you’ve lost to cancer, let me know when you donate, and I will hold them in my heart when I ride.
Donations are tax-deductible and qualify for corporate matching gifts for companies that participate.
Ride on! Thank you.
