I am fundraising for and riding in the 2023 Pan Mass Challenge, a 186 mile bike-a-thon that raises money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) to support cancer research.
I know first hand the impact medical advancements have on cancer care and the impact they have on patients' lives, and I am proud to be "living proof" of the amazing work of the talented researchers who dedicate their lives to help patients in need.
For many like me, advancements through research have brought cures to what would have been a terminal diagnosis; however, for many more patients there is still considerable work to be done.
The cost for developing new therapies and bringing them to patients is considerable, and to help continue the fight against cancer, I am joining a team established by a friend whose family has been touched by cancer. Team “Domestiques”, is in its fifth year, and our goal is to raise over $150,000 bringing our five year fund raising total to over $700k to support cancer research through DFCI. Last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
In road bicycle racing, a domestique is a rider who works for the benefit of his or her team and leader, rather than trying to win the race...Where the domestique finishes a race is less important than the help he or she gives.
Please join me in helping continue the fight against cancer, and to help patients in need by donating to my fundraiser.
Thank you for your support, and F#@% Cancer!
